The virtual project meeting – Lithuania

International Erasmus + project “From Mythos to Logos. Educational approaches to the European folk myths and legends ” virtual meeting

      On March 15-19, 2021 the fifth meeting of the project partners took place, unfortunately, this time – remotely. The meeting was organized by Šiauliai Dainai Progymnasium project team. The aim of the project is to master the essence of European myths and their transformation into reality, to develop students’ cognitive and social competences, to strengthen teamwork skills, to foster the values of European citizenship, to share good practice.

     The joint activities brought together 65 students and 19 teachers from Greece, Poland, Italy, Romania, Portugal and Lithuania. Participants got acquainted with Lithuania, Šiauliai Dainai Progymnasium and its spaces. With the help of the Mentimeter app, the participants got to know each other closely and expressed their expectations for future activities. During the five days of the project meeting, the participants did a lot of activities – in the teams they created comics, which reflected the myths, legends, the characters of all the partners, together created a number of interactive tasks to deepen the knowledge of European legends. Two educations for teachers and students were organized – “Characters of European Legends” and “Bookmark – Crown”. It turns out that remote teamwork not only possible, but also fun, and the results made everyone happy. One day was dedicated to the international conference “Nuo Mitų iki Mokslo“/„From Mythos to Logos“, which was attended not only by the project participants, but also by students and teachers from all over Lithuania. It featured musical works related to the theme of mythology. Elpiniki Tastani (Greece, Athens), a teacher of ancient and modern Greek and a doctor of history and ethnology, delivered a speech in plenary. 34 presentations were presented, presenting practical/research activities of students revealing the uniqueness of European myths and legends. Lesson plans were presented and experiences of interdisciplinary integration were shared. Participants enjoyed the creative/innovative activities of the students, which help to discover and express the content of myths and legends in science.

     It is gratifying that during the whole meeting the participants were active, positive, all the planned activities were implemented. The next, already last meeting, will take place in May in Italy.
